About the Role
New Hope Agric and Tech is seeking a dedicated Safety Officer to champion workplace safety and regulatory compliance at our agricultural feed manufacturing facility. You will play a vital role in protecting our workforce and promoting a proactive safety culture across all operations.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure strict adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) laws, industry regulations, and company-specific safety policies.
- Develop, review, and update comprehensive safety procedures tailored specifically to agricultural manufacturing and processing operations.
- Identify potential workplace hazards related to heavy machinery, production processes, and raw materials through routine evaluations.
- Conduct regular facility-wide risk assessments and recommend immediate corrective and preventative measures to management.
- Organize and facilitate engaging safety training sessions, fire drills, and educational workshops for all manufacturing staff.
- Promote an active culture of safety and accountability through targeted awareness campaigns and daily shift briefings.
- Investigate all workplace incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root causes and implement effective preventive strategies.
- Possession of a Bachelor Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience working as a Safety Officer, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural setting.
- Thorough understanding of Nigerian labor laws, environmental regulations, and relevant ISO safety standards.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and training facilitation skills with the ability to influence staff at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail when conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
