About the Role
The Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of Pan-Atlantic University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safeguarding Lead to join our team in Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the NiWEMA programme's comprehensive safeguarding framework across its full operational scope. This massive initiative engages 750,000 participants over five years through both online LMS-based cohorts and physical training delivered across multiple Nigerian states. You will ensure robust, context-sensitive safeguarding systems are operational at every level of delivery to protect participants, staff, and partners.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and regularly review the NiWEMA Safeguarding Policy covering online and physical delivery environments.
- Design differentiated safeguarding risk frameworks for online and physical training streams.
- Establish and manage a confidential, multi-channel safeguarding reporting and response mechanism.
- Conduct safeguarding due diligence and compliance audits on all implementing partners and physical training sites.
- Deliver mandatory safeguarding training and induction for project staff, trainers, and partners.
- Manage safeguarding concerns and incidents in line with established protocols and referral pathways.
- Collaborate with the Gender Lead to integrate safeguarding and gender approaches seamlessly.
- Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Development Studies, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in safeguarding, child protection, or GBV prevention in large-scale programmes.
- Recognised safeguarding or child protection certification is strictly required.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Nigerian safeguarding laws and referral pathways.
