About the Role

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a research and policy nonprofit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA Nigeria is currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Research Manager to lead innovative research initiatives from our Abuja country office. In this role, you will drive evidence-based solutions through rigorous research methods while building strong partnerships across the country. As a core member of the Nigeria Management Team, you will oversee a portfolio of three to five large-scale projects, manage financial and human resources, and ensure high-impact deliverables that align with IPA's global mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead 2-4 research studies in Nigeria, overseeing research design, sampling strategies, and quantitative and qualitative data management protocols.
  • Coordinate directly with project Research Associates and Principal Investigators to ensure timely milestone delivery and donor compliance.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships across West Africa with key stakeholders, including government agencies, academic institutions, and implementing partners.
  • Manage project work plans, budgets, and large-scale field teams comprising permanent staff and up to 100 short-term data collectors.
  • Support business development efforts by responding to calls for proposals and contributing to country office policy development and strategic planning.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project management, specifically focusing on social science or economic field research.
  • Proficiency in statistical software packages such as Stata, R, or Python, alongside data collection platforms like SurveyCTO or ODK.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex workstreams, coordinate diverse stakeholders, and mentor junior research staff.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into policy-relevant insights.
