About the Role

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a research and policy nonprofit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Research Manager to lead innovative research initiatives within our Nigeria Country Office based in Abuja, with extensive travel to project sites nationwide. As a core member of the Nigeria Management Team, you will drive evidence-based solutions, oversee a portfolio of three to five large-scale research projects, and build strategic partnerships with government stakeholders, academic researchers, and partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead 2-4 research studies in Nigeria, overseeing research design, sampling strategies, and rigorous data management protocols.
  • Supervise project research staff, manage project finances, ensure donor compliance, and monitor project work plans and deliverables.
  • Coordinate directly with project Research Associates and serve as a key liaison between field offices, project staff, and Principal Investigators.
  • Support new business development by responding to calls for proposals and building relationships with funders and implementers.
  • Contribute to country office initiatives, promote research best practices, and drive the adoption of evidence-based results among policymakers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or a related field; a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project management with a strong focus on social science or economic field research.
  • Proficiency in statistical software packages such as Stata, R, or Python, alongside data collection platforms like SurveyCTO or ODK.
  • Proven ability to manage large field teams, complex multi-site surveys, and simultaneous workstreams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical data into policy-relevant insights.
