About the Role

The People Practice is seeking a strategic and dynamic Chief of Staff / Chief Operating Officer (COO) to drive operational excellence and organizational growth. In this high-impact executive role, you will act as the central coordination point across teams, establishing robust operating rhythms, driving accountability, and ensuring that resources, people, and processes align seamlessly to deliver the office mandate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operations of the Office of the CEO, establishing efficient workflows, reporting mechanisms, and decision-making processes.
  • Oversee comprehensive finance functions, including organizational budgeting, expenditure tracking, administrative controls, and resource allocation.
  • Manage the prioritization and execution of the CEO's strategic agenda, executive meetings, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Coordinate administrative engagements with government agencies, ministries, and relevant public institutions, ensuring strict compliance with Nigerian laws and sector regulations.
  • Design and implement robust HR strategies, overseeing recruitment, payroll, talent development, and high-performance KPIs.
  • Supervise physical security, facilities management, IT infrastructure, fleet logistics, and end-to-end procurement processes.
  • Oversee legal compliance, drafting and negotiating MoUs, SLAs, and third-party contracts while providing flawless secretariat support for board meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance, Engineering, or Public Policy; Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or LL.M) is required.
  • 10 to 12 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in senior operations, management consulting, or as a Chief of Staff.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-functional teams of at least 15 people and overseeing large-scale operational budgets.
  • Hands-on experience navigating corporate boardrooms and government MDAs, specifically within the Nigerian energy sector.
  • Advanced proficiency in mapping complex workflows, utilizing modern ERP systems, and maintaining strict confidentiality and integrity.
