About the Role
Malaria Consortium Nigeria is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Research Assistant to support the groundbreaking DISBURMA Study in Lagos. This multi-centre retrospective cohort study aims to disaggregate the burden of severe malaria among paediatric and adolescent populations aged 0 to 20 years, providing crucial insights to shape national health policies and case management protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Retrieve and identify severe malaria cases from inpatient medical records, laboratory registers, and emergency logs.
- Collaborate with medical record officers to extract and accurately input data into the electronic data capture system using SurveyCTO.
- Capture comprehensive patient information, including demographics, clinical presentations, laboratory findings, treatments, and outcomes.
- Respond promptly to data queries and requests from the project technical team and national health partners.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity throughout the research data collection process.
- Minimum of a diploma or degree in a health-related science course, nursing, midwifery, or equivalent.
- Currently working as a staff member or volunteer in the paediatric or medical ward of the designated project hospital.
- Demonstrated experience in inpatient care and medical record management.
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic data capture platforms and mobile data collection tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with familiarity working alongside health institution stakeholders.
- Prior training in health research ethics is considered a strong advantage.
