About the Role
Malaria Consortium Nigeria is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Research Assistant based in Anambra to contribute to the critical DISBURMA Study (Disaggregating the Burden of Severe Malaria in Paediatric Populations in Nigeria). In this role, you will play a pivotal part in generating age-specific insights into severe malaria morbidity and mortality among children and adolescents, ultimately guiding national health policies and case management protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with medical record officers to retrieve, review, and identify severe malaria cases from inpatient medical records, registers, and case notes (2021–2025).
- Accurately capture and extract comprehensive patient data including demographics, clinical presentations, laboratory findings, treatments, comorbidities, and outcomes.
- Utilize electronic data capture (EDC) systems such as SurveyCTO to upload and manage collected data efficiently.
- Respond promptly to data queries and requests from the project technical team, National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), and State Malaria Elimination Programmes (SMEP).
- Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to established study protocols throughout the extraction process.
- Minimum of a diploma, degree, or professional qualification in nursing, midwifery, or other health-related sciences.
- Currently working as a staff member or volunteer within the pediatric or medical ward of the designated project hospital.
- Demonstrated practical experience in inpatient care and familiarity with secondary or tertiary healthcare facilities.
- Proven proficiency in utilizing electronic platforms for medical data capture and reporting.
- Exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and prior training in health research ethics are highly desirable.
