About the Role
Standard Specialist Hospital is a leading 24/7 healthcare provider in Kano, Nigeria, renowned for delivering high-quality, compassionate medical services. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Midwife to join our dynamic maternal and child health team. In this vital role, you will ensure safe outcomes for mothers and newborns through evidence-based practice and empathetic care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive antenatal assessments, monitor fetal wellbeing, and provide early identification of high-risk pregnancies.
- Manage labor and delivery safely using the partograph, perform normal vaginal deliveries, and assist with obstetric emergencies.
- Provide immediate newborn assessment, routine care, and neonatal resuscitation when necessary.
- Deliver comprehensive postnatal care, promoting exclusive breastfeeding, hygiene, and family planning counseling.
- Maintain accurate, confidential patient documentation and adhere strictly to infection control standards.
- Collaborate effectively with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals during ward rounds and clinical reviews.
- Valid Registered Midwife (RM) certification with a current practicing licence from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of post-qualification clinical experience in a secondary or tertiary healthcare setting.
- Additional certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are highly advantageous.
