About the Role
BOURBON Oil & Gas is a global leader in marine services, committed to operational excellence and uncompromising safety standards in continental and deepwater offshore operations. We are currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Referent Captain to join our dynamic maritime team in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will champion marine assurance, deck training, and operational improvements, leveraging state-of-the-art simulator exercises to drive safety and performance across our modern fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and enhance crew competence through targeted training, mentoring, and rigorous competency assessments to elevate navigational safety and offshore performance.
- Serve as the primary marine subject matter expert, offering crucial guidance on vessel operations, incident investigations, risk assessments, and client inspections including OVID, SUPO, PHI, and OVMSA.
- Ensure all fleet vessels strictly adhere to company Marine Assurance Procedures and international maritime regulations.
- Support the Fleet Manager in analyzing OVID performance data and continuously reviewing and updating operational procedures.
- Oversee the annual scheduling of comprehensive deck training programs for Officers of the Watch (OOW), Able Seamen (AB), and new employee inductions.
- Lead and conduct thorough marine assurance activities, vessel inspections, and operational assessments to mitigate risks and implement corrective actions.
- Relevant tertiary qualification with a minimum of a Diploma level education.
- Hold a valid Certificate of Competency (CoC) as Master of a vessel STCW Reg II/1.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in the maritime industry, with at least 5 years specifically in seagoing positions.
- Proven expertise in marine assurance, client inspections, and simulator-based navigational training.
