About the Role
Malaria Consortium is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Specialist to join our dynamic team in Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Country Technical Coordinator to provide high-level technical support for malaria programming, emerging public health priorities, and broader health system strengthening. You will help shape innovative strategies in disease surveillance, operational research, and capacity building while working alongside key government stakeholders and international donors to reduce the burden of malaria in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership across selected project portfolios to ensure alignment with global best practices in public health and disease control.
- Lead strategic health system strengthening initiatives, encompassing immunization, nutrition, private sector engagement, and subnational tailoring.
- Collaborate with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) teams to design robust disease surveillance systems and epidemiologic studies.
- Contribute to operational research, protocol development, data management, and the drafting of scientific reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Support internal capacity building, knowledge management strategies, and quarterly cross-learning forums for technical staff.
- Facilitate strong partnerships with the Federal Ministry of Health, National Malaria Elimination Programme, and state-level health agencies.
- Possession of a medical degree combined with a postgraduate degree in public health, focusing on epidemiology, biostatistics, or demography.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressive post-graduate working experience in public health program design and implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in managing major donor-funded grants such as USAID/PMI, FCDO, Global Fund, or the Gates Foundation.
- Extensive expertise in malaria programming, subnational tailoring, and maternal and child health initiatives.
- Proficiency in advanced data analysis and geospatial mapping software, including STATA, R, SPSS, QGIS, and DHIS2.
- Exceptional writing, presentation, advocacy, and interpersonal skills with full professional proficiency in English.
