About the Role
Albarka Healthspring Foundation (AHSF) is a dynamic non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations across communities in North East Nigeria. Operating in both emergency and developmental contexts, we identify critical gaps and bridge them through strategic, resource-based planning and implementation. We are currently seeking a dedicated Psychosocial First Aider (PFA) to join our growing team in Mana Babba.
Key Responsibilities- Provide immediate emotional and practical support to individuals experiencing crisis, trauma, or distress.
- Assess urgent needs and concerns of beneficiaries and provide safe, compassionate, and non-intrusive support.
- Connect affected individuals with necessary long-term mental health services, medical care, and community resources.
- Conduct community outreach and awareness sessions on psychological well-being and coping mechanisms.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all psychosocial interventions and support activities provided.
- Collaborate closely with other humanitarian team members to ensure a holistic approach to community care.
- Possess relevant academic qualifications in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Proven experience in providing psychosocial support, trauma counseling, or first aid within humanitarian or community settings.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills with high emotional intelligence.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively in challenging, fast-paced environments.
- Familiarity with the cultural context and local languages spoken in North East Nigeria is a strong advantage.
