About the Role
The Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos, a premier tertiary institution founded in 1967, is seeking a dynamic, result-oriented, and visionary academic leader to fill the prestigious position of Provost. As the Chief Executive, Academic, and Accounting Officer of the College, the successful candidate will provide exceptional strategic leadership to drive institutional excellence in technical, vocational, and science education.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Provost will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the College, implementing policies laid down by the Governing Council. Key duties include:
- Serving as Chairman of the Academic Board to direct and oversee academic activities.
- Acting as a member of the Governing Council, reporting on personnel, finances, and infrastructure.
- Authorizing institutional payments and expenditures in line with financial regulations and sound management principles.
- Fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), NCCE, and TETFund.
Candidates must meet the following rigorous criteria:
- Hold a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in Science, Technical, or Vocational Education.
- Possess a minimum of 15 years of post-qualification teaching and research experience in a College of Education system.
- Currently hold the rank of Chief Lecturer with at least 5 years of cognate experience.
- Possess professional teaching qualifications, including a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) or PGDE, and valid TRCN registration.
- Be a registered member of a relevant professional education association.
- Must not be above 59 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in ICT and a strong track record of scholarly publications.
The appointment is for a single tenure of five (5) years. Salary and remunerations are structured in accordance with the conditions of service for Provosts of Federal Colleges of Education in Nigeria.
