About the Role
Unique Care and Support Foundation (CASFOD) is a prominent national non-governmental organization dedicated to children and women's rights within the Humanitarian, Development and Peace (HDP) nexus. We are currently seeking a passionate and driven Protection Assistant to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of child protection, school safety, psychosocial support, and safeguarding activities under the ECHO project. In this role, you will work directly with children, caregivers, schools, and community structures to foster a safe, inclusive, and dignified environment for vulnerable learners across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Perform regular child protection and school safety assessments to identify risks affecting children, particularly adolescent girls, children with disabilities, and other vulnerable learners.
- Conduct child protection monitoring, identify children at risk of abuse, exploitation, or violence, and facilitate safe, confidential, and timely referrals to appropriate services.
- Engage parents, caregivers, local authorities, and community structures such as School-Based Management Committees to promote child protection and safer learning environments.
- Provide Psychosocial Support (PSS) activities including group sessions, recreational activities, and life skills sessions to promote children's well-being.
- Support schools in developing and implementing safety plans, mapping unsafe routes, and protecting children from violence and threats.
- Collect, document, and submit accurate activity reports, referral updates, and monitoring data while ensuring strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Bachelor Degree or Higher National Diploma in Social Work, Law, Psychology, Sociology, International Development, Human Rights, or a related social science field.
- Alternative qualification includes a relevant diploma with substantial direct field experience in humanitarian protection, child protection, or GBV programming.
- 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience in humanitarian protection operations, community-based protection, or child protection in emergency contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in field monitoring, vulnerability assessments, referral tracking, and case management intake.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven experience conducting community-based awareness sessions and engaging with local stakeholders.
