About the Role
Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a global health nonprofit dedicated to saving lives and building stronger health systems in developing nations. Since 1971, we have partnered with policymakers, health professionals, and communities across more than 150 countries to address critical health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and maternal health. We are currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated professional to join our team as the Local Capacity Strengthening Health Workforce Development Officer in Nigeria, playing a pivotal role in empowering local health workers and strengthening institutional resilience.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive capacity assessments of health systems and workforces to identify gaps and inform targeted training strategies.
- Develop and adapt training modules, curricula, and capacity-building plans tailored for various health cadres, including community health workers and nurses.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of specialized training sessions, national train-the-trainer workshops, and mentorship programs.
- Collaborate closely with Ministries of Health, NGOs, local authorities, and international bodies to align activities and foster strong partnerships.
- Provide expert technical advice on human resources for health (HRH), program implementation, and continuous quality improvement.
- Track training activities, maintain robust databases, document best practices and lessons learned, and report on project results.
- Support the development and review of national policies, guidelines, and sustainable structures for long-term workforce development.
- Bachelor's degree with 4 to 6 years of experience, Master's degree with 2 to 4 years of experience, or Doctorate with 0 to 2 years of experience in public health, health administration, international development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated professional experience in capacity building and health workforce development, ideally within donor-funded NGO or public sector projects.
- Solid working knowledge of community health worker programs, adult learning methodologies, monitoring and evaluation, and human resources for health.
- Master Trainer certification, experience with specific major health priority areas, and familiarity with e-learning or digital health tools are highly desirable.
- Strong communication, coordination, analytical, strategic thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills with proficiency in MS Office tools.
