About the Role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a leading research-for-development organization committed to improving food security and livelihoods across Africa. We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Project Superintendent to oversee our construction and remodeling projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the on-site construction team including foremen, sub-foremen, and artisans.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and quality standards across all project sites.
- Apportion work among staff based on their specialized training and expertise.
- Coordinate new construction and major remodeling through scheduling, meetings, and project document reviews.
- Monitor and report on work progress while tracking material stock and orders with the supply chain unit.
- Create labor and material schedules to ensure projects are completed within the allocated budget.
- Maintain comprehensive project files for work scopes, drawing logs, sketches, photographs, and correspondence.
- Ensure early and timely delivery of renovated campus buildings for handover to the housing unit.
- Contribute to the development of the FMS project online database and work order request systems.
- Possession of an HND or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in construction project supervision, site management, or execution within a well-structured environment.
- Strong project management, leadership, and team coordination skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety, quality, and compliance management.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication abilities in English.
