About the Role
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an international non-governmental organization supporting relief and development work in over 99 countries. Re-established in Nigeria in 2000, CRS currently focuses on agriculture, health, governance, and peacebuilding programming. We are seeking a skilled Project / Grant Accountant to ensure financial compliance and support high-quality programming through meticulous accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities- Set and monitor sound accounting and financial reporting procedures for project subrecipients and partners following established standards.
- Review and validate supporting documentation before processing financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization.
- Record financial transactions, review accounts to detect irregularities, and prepare necessary correcting entries and adjustments.
- Assess and monitor subrecipient financial management processes while strengthening partner capacity in financial accounting.
- Monitor disbursement and receipt schedules, alerting relevant staff of due payments to ensure compliance with deadlines.
- Prepare periodic and ad-hoc financial reports, perform variance analysis, and assist with budget maintenance.
- Provide guidance on financial accounting policies and procedural compliance to staff and partners.
- Perform assigned treasury duties including cash payments, receipts, and cash forecasts.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration, or a recognized accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CPA.
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, preferably with an international or local NGO.
- Strong knowledge of public donor regulations and proficiency in MS Office and financial accounting software such as SunSystems.
