About the Role
Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, seeks an experienced Project Director to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale industrial and food processing plant projects. This pivotal role combines strategic oversight with hands-on project leadership, ensuring facilities are constructed safely, on schedule, and within budget while meeting stringent quality and contractual standards.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and coordinate comprehensive project execution plans including scope definition, scheduling, and EPCC activities
- Prepare, manage, and control project budgets with focus on cost efficiency and expenditure oversight
- Manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers, providing regular progress updates
- Supervise construction activities ensuring strict compliance with designs, specifications, and timelines
- Oversee quality assurance and control mechanisms, implementing corrective actions as necessary
- Enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks through comprehensive risk management
- Lead commissioning and handover activities, ensuring systems meet design requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering (Master's preferred)
- 10–15 years in engineering, construction, or industrial projects; minimum 7 years in senior project management
- Proven track record delivering flour mills, grain handling systems, food processing plants, or industrial facilities
- Expert knowledge of industrial systems: grain silos, conveying, packaging, utilities, mechanical/electrical/instrumentation works
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors
- Strong understanding of food safety standards, engineering drawings, and contract administration
- Professional engineering or project management certifications advantageous
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities with demonstrated integrity
