Federal University Lafia (FULafia) is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and tech-savvy individual to fill the position of Programmer II. Established in 2011, FULafia is committed to academic excellence, innovation, and expanding access to quality higher education in Nigeria. Located in Lafia, Nasarawa State, our institution boasts a rapidly growing academic community across multiple faculties and programmes. As a Programmer II, you will play a crucial role in driving our technological advancement by designing, implementing, and maintaining robust software solutions that support our students, faculty, and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and deploy secure software applications and web platforms for various university departments.
- Maintain and optimize existing database systems, enterprise applications, and university portals to ensure high availability.
- Collaborate with IT team members, system administrators, and university stakeholders to gather software requirements and define project scopes.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade legacy software to improve performance, security, and user experience.
- Provide technical support and training to staff and students utilizing university-developed applications.
- Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code following industry best practices and standards.
- Possession of a Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
- Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme or possess a valid exemption certificate.
- Demonstrated hands-on skills and professional certifications in relevant technologies, such as MCAD, MCSD, SCJP, SCWCD, SCBCD, J2EE, .NET, PHP, C++, or equivalent frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in an academic environment.
