About the Role
UNICEF Nigeria is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Programme Associate (G-6) to join the Health Section under the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) cluster. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the realization of children's and women's rights across Nigeria by providing critical programme, administrative, and data support that drives effective service delivery and reporting.
As a Programme Associate, you will work under the supervision of the Health Manager, liaising closely with Programme, Operations, Finance, and Supply units, as well as external partners including government ministries, NGOs, and donor agencies. You will play a key role in bridging operational and programmatic functions, ensuring that UNICEF's health programmes are implemented efficiently, monitored accurately, and reported in compliance with organizational standards.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to anticipate needs, recommend solutions, and support programme planning and implementation from initiation to results reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate project management activities and implementing partnership arrangements to support programme delivery.
- Manage, analyze, and report on programme data to inform decision-making and track performance indicators.
- Monitor grants and budgets, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance with UNICEF financial guidelines.
- Leverage digital tools and AI-powered platforms to improve operational efficiency and data accuracy.
- Support communication, knowledge sharing, and dissemination of programme results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate capacity-building activities and organize events, workshops, and meetings as required.
- Provide flexible support and surge capacity during emergencies or peak workload periods.
- Liaise regularly with government ministries, NGOs, donors, and internal UNICEF units to ensure seamless programme coordination.
- Completion of secondary education is required; relevant university or professional courses are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 6 years of administrative or clerical work experience, preferably within programme or development contexts.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, resource tracking, and risk identification.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to write clear reports and engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, including data analysis, trend identification, and decision-making under time constraints.
- Digital dexterity, including the use of AI-powered tools, specialist business systems, and reporting software.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language or a local Nigerian language is an advantage.
- Experience working in development, fragile, or humanitarian settings is highly desirable.
