About the Role

COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale is an independent humanitarian organization fighting poverty and supporting populations affected by emergencies and development challenges. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Officer - Post Harvest & Infrastructure / Grain Bank Officer to join our team in Bade LGA, Yobe State. In this vital role, you will provide critical technical support for the operationalization, management, and sustainability of five Community Grain Banks (CGBs) and five post-harvest aggregation and processing hubs under the Agri-Food System Transformation and Innovation (AFTI) project, directly contributing to reducing post-harvest losses and strengthening local agricultural value chains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the operationalization and effective management of Community Grain Banks (CGBs) and post-harvest aggregation hubs.
  • Provide technical guidance on grain receiving, weighing, drying, cleaning, grading, packaging, storage, and stock rotation to reduce post-harvest losses by at least 20 percent.
  • Supervise the installation, operation, and maintenance of post-harvest equipment including dryers, cleaners, shellers, and hermetic storage systems.
  • Support the formation, capacity building, and strengthening of inclusive Grain Bank Management Committees and Producer Marketing Organizations.
  • Promote sustainable fee-for-service and cost-recovery models alongside inventory management and accurate stock records.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, environmental safeguarding, protection, and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Coordinate closely with government institutions, extension services, private-sector suppliers, and community stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Crop Production, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in post-harvest management, grain storage, agricultural infrastructure, or value chain development.
  • Practical knowledge of grain drying, moisture management, pest control, quality assurance, and warehouse inventory management.
  • Experience operating or managing post-harvest equipment and working with farmer cooperatives or NGOs.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa is essential for effective community engagement in Bade LGA.
