About the Role

COOPI Cooperazione Internazionale is an international humanitarian organization fighting against poverty to support vulnerable populations affected by crises, emergencies, and development challenges. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the position of Program Officer - Post Harvest & Infrastructure / Grain Bank Officer to join our team under the Agri-Food System Transformation and Innovation (AFTI) project in Bade LGA, Yobe State. In this critical role, you will provide technical support for the operationalization, management, and sustainability of five Community Grain Banks (CGBs) and five post-harvest aggregation and processing hubs, directly contributing to our goal of reducing post-harvest losses by at least 20%.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the operationalization, management, and sustainability of Community Grain Banks and post-harvest hubs, ensuring safe, efficient, and inclusive community-led operations.
  • Provide technical guidance on grain receiving, drying, cleaning, grading, packaging, storage, pest management, and stock rotation.
  • Supervise the installation, operation, and maintenance of agricultural equipment such as dryers, cleaners, shellers, milling machines, and hermetic storage systems.
  • Form and strengthen inclusive Grain Bank Management Committees, building local capacity through targeted training on equipment safety, hygiene, and routine maintenance.
  • Promote sustainable fee-for-service models, accurate inventory management, and effective market linkages in collaboration with internal teams and local value chain actors.
  • Monitor facility performance, maintain equipment inventories, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and submit regular progress reports.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree or HND in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Crop Production, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience in post-harvest management, grain storage, warehouse management, or agricultural value chain development.
  • Practical expertise in grain processing technologies, moisture management, quality control, and post-harvest loss reduction strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience working with farmer cooperatives, Producer Marketing Organizations, community structures, or humanitarian NGOs.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa is essential for effective stakeholder communication and community mobilization in Bade LGA.
