About the Role
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is seeking a dedicated Program Officer for Health Systems Strengthening and Primary Healthcare (PHC) to join our Nigeria Country Office. In this vital role, you will champion PHC reforms, manage complex grant portfolios, and build impactful partnerships with government stakeholders at federal and sub-national levels to enhance healthcare delivery across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Support the design and implementation of PHC reforms, including the Nigeria Integrated Health Model and State Delivery and Intelligence Units.
- Manage a strategic portfolio of grants and contracts, ensuring rigorous monitoring, evaluation, and risk mitigation.
- Foster exceptional relationships with key government officials, particularly within Ministries of Health, to drive health strategy adoption.
- Provide technical assistance and mentorship to improve sub-national data utilization for PHC performance management.
- Facilitate the development of annual investment plans and budgets to support national and sub-national health objectives.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in health systems strengthening, PHC, or public health in African settings.
- In-depth understanding of the Nigerian health system, federal and state health policy, with field experience in northern Nigeria.
- Advanced degree in Public Health, Health Systems and Administration, Health Financing, or a related field.
- Proven track record in coalition building, stakeholder engagement, and managing complex grant portfolios.
- Excellent communication and project management skills with the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
