About the Role

Nile University of Nigeria, a leading private multidisciplinary institution in Abuja and a proud member of Honoris United Universities, is seeking a distinguished Professor of Petroleum & Gas Engineering to join its Faculty of Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished academic to contribute to high-quality teaching, impactful research, and the continued growth of a globally recognised institution.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Department and play a key role in delivering excellent course content, driving curriculum innovation, and engaging in research activities that generate both academic impact and income for the University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars in Petroleum & Gas Engineering.
  • Develop and update curricula and course materials suitable for multiple learning platforms.
  • Collaborate with fellow academics to enhance teaching methods and expand departmental knowledge base.
  • Set and grade assignments, tests, and examinations in line with university standards.
  • Conduct research and produce academic papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings, conferences, and events within and outside the institution.
  • Engage in training opportunities and professional development initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and academic support to students and colleagues.
  • Stay current with developments in the field through continuous learning and published research.

Qualifications
  • Must hold the rank of Reader with a Ph.D. in Petroleum & Gas Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years’ demonstrable experience in university teaching, research, and administration.
  • Strong record of publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Proven experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Active membership or affiliation with a recognised professional body.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and virtual collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.
