Federal University Lafia invites applications from suitably qualified and dynamic academics for the prestigious position of Professor in the Department of Criminology and Security Studies, housed within the Faculty of Social Sciences. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Professor of Criminology and Security Studies, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the academic and research direction of the department. Your core duties will include:
- Teaching, mentoring, and inspiring undergraduate and postgraduate students in criminology, security studies, and related fields.
- Conducting high-impact, peer-reviewed research and publishing in reputable local and international journals.
- Supervising undergraduate projects, Master's dissertations, and PhD theses to successful completion.
- Contributing to curriculum development, academic administration, and departmental governance.
- Engaging in community service and forging strategic partnerships with security agencies and research institutes.
Applicants must meet the rigorous academic standards required for a professorial chair in a Nigerian federal university. The ideal candidate must possess:
- Current status as a Professor in Criminology, Security Studies, or a closely related discipline.
- A robust academic portfolio comprising at least twenty (20) scholarly publications, with a minimum of sixteen (16) in print.
- At least four (4) publications featured in at least three (3) different and regularly published foreign indexed journals.
- Undeniable evidence of successful postgraduate supervision, including at least three (3) Master's degrees and one (1) PhD degree to completion.
- Demonstrated leadership, administrative capacity, and a strong track record of academic integrity.
