About the Role
Blume Nigeria Limited, an established international trading and distribution company specializing in food products, is seeking a proactive and experienced Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in identifying, sourcing, and managing vendors for essential agricultural produce while ensuring optimal quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery across our supply chain.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and engage reliable vendors and aggregators for agro-commodities including Garri, garlic, and ginger.
- Conduct regular market analysis to monitor price trends, supply chain challenges, and new sourcing opportunities.
- Ensure timely procurement of agricultural goods in strict compliance with company quality standards and allocated budgets.
- Negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers while fostering long-term professional relationships.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive supplier database for assigned territories.
- Conduct periodic field visits to farms, local markets, and aggregation centers to verify supplier capacity and product quality.
- Collaborate closely with internal warehouse, logistics, finance, and quality assurance teams.
- Monitor inventory levels and align procurement activities with broader operational planning.
- Prepare accurate weekly and monthly procurement reports highlighting key performance indicators and supplier metrics.
- Ensure full compliance with company procurement policies and relevant local regulations.
- Minimum of an OND, HND, or BSc in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- At least 3 to 5 years of proven experience in agro-commodity sourcing or procurement within the agriculture or FMCG sector.
- Demonstrated field experience in sourcing Garri, garlic, ginger, or similar raw materials.
- In-depth knowledge of local markets, supplier networks, and pricing dynamics in Ijebu-Ode, Abeokuta, Oyo, and Lagos.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal competencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within assigned operational regions.
