Key Responsibilities- Source and procure a diverse range of products, materials, and supplies required for daily supermarket operations.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure quality products at highly competitive prices.
- Maintain robust relationships with suppliers and guarantee the timely delivery of all purchased goods.
- Collaborate closely with the Inventory Officer to monitor stock levels, preventing both costly shortages and excess inventory.
- Conduct regular market surveys across major Lagos commercial areas to discover new suppliers, pricing trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare accurate purchase orders, maintain comprehensive procurement documentation, and verify the quality and quantity of delivered goods.
- Monitor supplier performance consistently and resolve any procurement or delivery issues promptly.
- Ensure strict adherence to company procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Generate periodic procurement reports and execute additional tasks as delegated by management.
- Minimum of an OND in Business Administration, Purchasing and Supply, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of proven professional experience working as a Procurement Officer, preferably within the retail or supermarket sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in sourcing various supermarket goods and managing vendor relationships successfully.
- Extensive knowledge of the Lagos market, established supplier networks, and key commercial hubs.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills paired with excellent attention to detail.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office productivity tools.
- Ability to work autonomously, think critically, and make sound, timely purchasing decisions.
- Willingness to reside in the company's shared staff accommodation as required.
