About the Role

Benin Electricity Distribution Plc (BEDC) is one of the premier retail electricity distribution companies licensed by the Federal Government, powering millions of households across Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States. We are currently seeking a dynamic and analytical Lead Internal Auditor to strengthen our governance framework, evaluate internal controls, and drive operational excellence across our expansive network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, plan, and execute comprehensive risk-based internal audit plans across operational, financial, and compliance functions.
  • Lead audit assignments and evaluate the overall effectiveness of organizational internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of business operations and processes to identify vulnerabilities and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Prepare detailed, high-quality audit reports and present actionable findings to executive management.
  • Monitor the timely implementation of audit recommendations and corrective action plans.
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide Internal Audit Officers to foster high professional standards within the team.
  • Coordinate and execute special investigations, issuing prompt and objective reports to management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Recognized professional certifications such as ICAN, ACCA, or CIA are strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of cognate auditing experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of internal auditing standards, risk management frameworks, and regulatory compliance requirements within the Nigerian business environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, leadership, communication, and reporting skills.
