About the Role

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Technologist to join our Department of University Laboratories under Laboratory Technical Services. In this vital role, you will oversee laboratory operations across our campuses in Delta State and Abuja, ensuring a safe, efficient, and technologically advanced environment for both students and faculty members.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily laboratory technical services and ensure optimal functioning of all equipment.
- Support teaching, academic research, and practical laboratory sessions for students.
- Implement and maintain strict quality assurance and laboratory safety protocols in line with international standards.
- Maintain comprehensive inventory records of chemicals, reagents, and laboratory apparatus.
- Train and mentor junior laboratory staff and assist faculty in developing standard operating procedures.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate timely repairs or calibration of laboratory instruments.
- Possession of a relevant Bachelor's degree, HND, or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant laboratory discipline.
- Current and appropriate professional registration or license where applicable.
- Demonstrated post-qualification experience commensurate with the principal technologist cadre in an academic or research setting.
- In-depth knowledge of modern laboratory equipment, safety regulations, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with academic staff and students.
