About the Role
The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is a prestigious federal university founded in 1970 with a rich history of academic excellence and technological advancement. We are currently seeking a dynamic, skilled, and result-oriented Principal Programmer II (CONTISS 11) to join our vibrant ICT department. In this critical role, you will spearhead software development projects, design robust database architectures, and maintain critical university-wide applications to support academic and administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable software applications and enterprise systems for the university.
- Collaborate with IT teams and academic departments to analyze user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize existing software systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Mentor junior programmers and provide technical guidance on best coding practices and software development lifecycles.
- Ensure data security, integrity, and compliance with institutional policies across all digital platforms.
- Document software designs, system architecture, and user manuals for operational continuity.
- Possession of a good bachelor degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field with not below Second Class (Lower Division) from a recognized university.
- Equivalent professional IT qualifications will be considered alongside relevant academic backgrounds.
- A minimum of 6 years of post-qualification cognate experience in professional programming and software engineering.
- Mandatory possession of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate or exemption letter.
