About the Role

Enugu International Preparatory School seeks a passionate and nurturing Pre-School Teacher to lead our Early Years classroom. This is a rewarding opportunity to shape foundational learning experiences for children aged 1–2 years in a 21st-century educational environment approved by Nigeria's Ministry of Education.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate, play-based learning experiences that foster exploration through sensory play, music, movement, stories, and creative activities
  • Support language development, communication, and early problem-solving skills through responsive interactions and storytelling
  • Promote physical, mathematical, and cognitive development through everyday routines and hands-on exploration
  • Adapt activities to meet individual developmental stages, interests, and learning needs

Care, Safety and Wellbeing

  • Provide attentive, responsive care and maintain a safe, clean, developmentally appropriate classroom environment
  • Support personal care routines and promote healthy habits around food, hygiene, and self-care
  • Follow all safeguarding, child protection, and wellbeing procedures consistently

Observation and Assessment

  • Maintain detailed records of children's learning progress and developmental milestones
  • Use observations to inform planning and share developmental information with parents and colleagues

Partnership and Teamwork

  • Build positive relationships with families and communicate regularly about children's experiences and progress
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and school leadership
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to continuous improvement of the Early Years environment
Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant qualification or training in Early Childhood Education, Early Years Education, or Child Development
  • Experience working with children aged 1–2 years in an Early Years setting
  • Strong understanding of play-based learning and early childhood development
  • Warm, patient, nurturing approach with excellent observation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience in a school or nursery environment
  • Knowledge of established Early Years frameworks or curricula
  • Paediatric first aid or safeguarding training
  • Experience supporting children with additional learning needs
