About the Role

Slum and Rural Health Initiative is a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming healthcare access and information delivery across Africa. Since 2017, we have operated in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and The Gambia, leveraging advocacy, cutting-edge research, and technology to uplift vulnerable and underserved populations. We are currently seeking talented and dedicated Postdoctoral Fellows to join our multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, social scientists, and researchers. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage rigorous public health research projects focusing on slum and rural populations.
  • Design quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, data collection tools, and analytical frameworks.
  • Analyze complex datasets and translate research findings into high-impact peer-reviewed journal publications and policy briefs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Nigeria, Ethiopia, and The Gambia to integrate technology and advocacy into health interventions.
  • Mentor junior researchers, field agents, and interns participating in ongoing organizational projects.
  • Contribute to grant writing, fundraising initiatives, and strategic partnerships to support sustainable public health programs.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Public Health, Global Health, Social Sciences, Epidemiology, Medicine, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of academic research with publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Strong proficiency in qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis software such as SPSS, R, STATA, NVivo, or Atlas.ti.
  • Demonstrated experience working in low-resource settings, vulnerable communities, or international development projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in remote and multicultural teams.
