About the Role
The National Institute for Nigerian Languages (NINLAN), an Inter-University Centre for Nigerian Language Studies operating under the regulation of the National Universities Commission (NUC), is currently seeking a reliable and diligent Porter. In this vital support role, you will help maintain a welcoming, orderly, and secure campus environment for students, faculty, and visitors alike. Key Responsibilities- Monitor building entrances and exits to maintain campus security and regulate visitor access.
- Assist students, staff, and visitors with inquiries, luggage handling, and general campus directions.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail, packages, and internal office correspondence promptly.
- Perform routine patrols of facilities to check for safety hazards, maintenance issues, or unauthorized access.
- Assist with setting up rooms for lectures, meetings, institutional events, and examinations.
- Report any maintenance defects, security breaches, or emergencies immediately to the appropriate department.
- Maintain accurate logs of visitors, deliveries, and daily shift activities.
- Must possess relevant academic qualifications appropriate for a portering and facility support role.
- Demonstrated integrity, dependability, and a high level of professional responsibility.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with the academic community.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in fast-paced or emergency situations.
