About the Role
Benin Medical Care is a world-class healthcare facility located in the heart of Benin City along Adesuwa Grammar School Road. Since our commissioning on November 1, 2019, we have been committed to delivering exceptional general and specialist medical services to individuals and families. We are currently seeking a dedicated and physically fit Porter to join our dynamic support team and help maintain the highest standards of hospital efficiency and patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Transfer patients safely to and from various locations, including wards, diagnostics departments, and consultation rooms.
- Transport vital and costly medical equipment, specialist apparatus, wheelchairs, and oxygen tanks between hospital departments.
- Deliver laboratory samples, clinical supplies, and patient medical notes to the correct destinations accurately and on time.
- Transport clinical waste and hazardous materials strictly following safety protocols.
- Refill and distribute drinking water to dispensers throughout the facility.
- Transport deceased individuals from wards and operating theatres to the mortuary with dignity and discretion.
- Provide compassionate emotional support, reassurance, and comfort to distressed, weak, or vulnerable patients.
- Manage challenging situations professionally, including placating irritable patients and handling escalated incidents calmly.
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Demonstrated physical fitness and the ability to handle heavy lifting and extensive movement.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a caring, patient, and empathetic bedside manner.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and efficient during emergency situations.
- Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills.
- Strong multi-tasking abilities and a flexible approach to working hours and duties.
