About the Role
Scruples Resources, a leading consultancy and human resource provider in Nigeria, is seeking a skilled and certified Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) specialist. In this critical role, you will perform advanced non-destructive testing on welds, piping, and pressure vessels across the oil and gas, petrochemical, and manufacturing sectors. We are looking for a dedicated technical professional committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality assurance, and engineering compliance on all project sites.
Key Responsibilities- Perform advanced PAUT examinations on welds, piping, pressure vessels, and critical industrial components according to approved procedures.
- Configure inspection equipment, select appropriate probes, wedges, and scan plans, and conduct rigorous calibration and sensitivity checks.
- Analyze A-scan, S-scan, and C-scan data to accurately identify, size, locate, and characterize material discontinuities.
- Evaluate inspection findings against applicable international codes such as ASME, API, AWS, and ISO standards.
- Produce accurate daily inspection reports, maintain comprehensive examination records, and manage digital inspection data securely.
- Coordinate seamlessly with welding, QA/QC, engineering, and site construction teams to support fabrication and shutdown activities.
- Adhere strictly to site-specific health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, including offshore work and confined-space entry.
- Technical certificate, OND, HND, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Technology, or a related discipline.
- Valid industry-recognized certification in PAUT and UT, such as ISO 9712, PCN, ASNT, or equivalent.
- Proven practical experience performing PAUT examinations in oil and gas, pipeline, fabrication, or offshore environments.
- Strong working knowledge of ultrasonic testing principles, weld inspection, defect evaluation, and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with various phased-array instruments, scanners, data-analysis software, and complementary NDT methods like RT, MT, PT, and VT.
