About the Role

The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital offering world-class comprehensive diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care, alongside top-notch research and education. Developed by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, AMCE Abuja is setting a new standard for healthcare across the African continent. We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated PET Radiographer to join our cutting-edge diagnostic imaging team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality PET and PET/CT imaging procedures safely and proficiently following established clinical protocols.
  • Operate, calibrate, and conduct basic troubleshooting on advanced PET/CT scanners, dose calibrators, and associated equipment.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients accurately, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and radiation safety measures.
  • Provide compassionate care, clear instructions, and continuous monitoring to patients before, during, and after imaging procedures.
  • Conduct daily quality control tests and participate actively in the department's continuous improvement and quality assurance programs.
  • Ensure full compliance with radiation safety regulations set by the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) and internal AMCE policies, applying ALARA principles.
  • Collaborate closely with Cyclotron Medical Physicists, Nuclear Medicine Physicians, Radiologists, and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining detailed records in the PACS.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Radiography, Medical Imaging, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in Radiography, with demonstrable hands-on expertise in PET/CT or Nuclear Medicine imaging systems.
  • Valid practicing license to practice radiography in Nigeria.
  • Postgraduate qualification or certification in Nuclear Medicine or PET/CT imaging is highly desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, radiopharmacy, radiation physics, and radiation safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to handle and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely within a clinical environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and patient care skills suited for a multidisciplinary hospital setting.
