About the Role
Airtel Africa is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Passive System Engineer to join our expanding team in Nigeria. In this critical role, you will support the planning, control, management, monitoring, and optimization of our nationwide power and passive infrastructure operations. You will ensure a robust and sustainable power infrastructure that delivers optimal power quality, maintains high network power availability, and drives energy OPEX reduction in alignment with our corporate targets.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day passive and power operations, maintenance, site fueling, and diesel delivery across all data centers and owned BTS sites to guarantee optimal availability.
- Provide comprehensive operational support for the entire power network, ensuring reliable supply to Core, IN, VAS, BSS, and Transmission domains.
- Plan and coordinate the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of power equipment, including generators, HVAC units, rectifiers, batteries, and solar hybrid systems.
- Monitor and optimize key energy cost drivers and site operating expenditures, driving vendor performance to achieve strict cost reduction goals.
- Prepare, track, and manage annual Power CAPEX and OPEX budgets, ensuring strict compliance with Annual Operating Plan (AOP) targets.
- Develop and enforce Service Level Agreements (SLAs), managing third-party vendors and ensuring regulatory compliance for equipment emissions and safety standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years of diverse experience in power operations and maintenance within the telecommunications industry.
- Deep technical expertise in electrical power systems, including DC rectifiers, UPS systems, generators, and hybrid power solutions.
- Proficiency in project management, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
