About the Role

Sagar Vitaceuticals Nigeria Limited, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Ikeja, Lagos, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Packing Shift In-Charge to oversee packaging operations during assigned shifts at our ultra-modern production facility. This role is critical to ensuring that our trusted brands, including Vitaclox, Vitacillin, Vitamox, Tropitone, Inbu, and Ytacan, are packaged efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

As Packing Shift In-Charge, you will be responsible for coordinating personnel, materials, and equipment to meet production targets while maintaining strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). You will act as a key link between the packaging floor and departments such as Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Engineering, and Maintenance to ensure smooth, uninterrupted operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and supervise all packaging activities during the assigned shift.
  • Verify correct Batch Packaging Record (BPR), packaging materials, and product before start-up.
  • Ensure line clearance is completed before start-up and after batch completion.
  • Monitor packaging operations to ensure compliance with approved procedures and GMP.
  • Allocate operators to packaging lines and supervise their activities.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, fit for use, and functioning correctly before production begins.
  • Monitor in-process checks and ensure all quality requirements are consistently met.
  • Reconcile packaging materials and finished products to minimize discrepancies.
  • Review and complete BPR documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Report and investigate deviations, equipment breakdowns, and quality issues.
  • Coordinate with QA, Warehouse, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve operational challenges.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved without compromising quality standards.
  • Enforce safety, hygiene, and housekeeping standards within the packaging area.
  • Train, coach, and assess packaging operators on SOPs and GMP requirements.
  • Ensure proper product labeling, coding, serialization (where applicable), and traceability.
  • Participate in validation batches, change controls, CAPA implementation, and audit preparations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Pharmacy, Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a pharmaceutical or FMCG packaging environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, quality systems, and packaging line operations.
  • Proven supervisory and team leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across shifts, including nights and weekends when required.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
