About the Role
Proten International is an international Human Capital Development firm specializing in comprehensive training, coaching, and consulting services across Europe and Africa. We are currently recruiting a skilled Packet Core Engineer to join our talent pool for an exciting telecommunications project in Lagos, Nigeria. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring optimal network availability, seamless service performance, and robust connectivity for subscribers across a live Huawei LTE environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain Huawei LTE Packet Core elements, including MME, SGW, PGW, PCRF, and HSS.
- Monitor network performance, alarms, node health, resource utilisation, and service availability.
- Conduct routine health checks, preventive maintenance, configuration backups, and approved software upgrades.
- Troubleshoot LTE connectivity issues, subscriber authentication failures, APN problems, session drops, and bearer establishment failures.
- Analyse network signalling and protocol traces to identify faults and support resolution.
- Investigate major incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Identify potential capacity constraints and recommend performance improvements or expansions.
- Coordinate with Huawei technical support and internal engineering teams to resolve complex network issues.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, configuration records, technical reports, and incident logs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of telecommunications experience, featuring hands-on LTE Packet Core operations.
- Proven expertise in managing Huawei LTE Packet Core equipment within a live network environment.
- Strong understanding of LTE EPC architecture, APN configuration, GTP, Diameter, and Quality of Service (QoS).
- Proficiency in IP networking, routing, VLANs, IPv4/IPv6, and protocol analysis tools like Wireshark.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems, network redundancy, and disaster recovery frameworks.
- Exposure to virtualised Packet Core solutions, NFV, or cloud-based migration projects is a strong advantage.
