About the Role
Zamfara State Government is recruiting a dedicated Optometrist to deliver essential eye care services to residents across the state. This is an outstanding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on public health while serving a diverse population in northwestern Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments for patients of all ages
- Diagnose and manage common eye conditions and refractive errors
- Prescribe corrective lenses and therapeutic treatments as appropriate
- Provide patient education on eye health, preventive care, and proper vision correction usage
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care
- Participate in community outreach and vision screening programs
- Minimum academic qualification: Optometry Degree (OD)
- Valid registration with the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN)
- Current annual practicing license from ODORBN
- Completion of mandatory internship requirements
- Age: 18-40 years at time of application (subject to state policy modifications)
