About the Role

We are currently recruiting an expert Operations and Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our client to oversee the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electric motor and gas engine-driven Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) compressor packages. This onsite role is based in Arepo, close to Mowe Ibafo, Ogun State, and offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineering professional looking to make a significant impact in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain CNG compressor packages to ensure maximum uptime, optimal performance, and minimal downtime.
- Monitor critical operating parameters including pressure, temperature, oil levels, vibration, and running hours.
- Perform routine inspections, execute start-up and shutdown procedures, and lead emergency response activities.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on compressors, gas engines, motors, valves, piping, cooling, and lubrication systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, PLC, alarm, and control-system faults efficiently.
- Perform leak detection, pressure checks, equipment isolation, depressurization, and safe restoration post-maintenance.
- Inspect and maintain gas detectors, flame detectors, emergency shutdown systems, safety valves, and gauges.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, maintenance records, service history, and detailed breakdown reports.
- Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automobile Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in CNG compressor operation, maintenance, gas compression, city gas distribution, or industrial gas environments.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience specifically with reciprocating compressor maintenance and breakdown troubleshooting.
- Strong working knowledge of gas engines, multistage compression, lubrication systems, and PLC/HMI-based control systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety standards, including Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), and CNG safety procedures.
- OEM experience with major brands like Atlas Copco, CP, or equivalent compressor packages is a distinct advantage.
