About the Role
The Dangote Group is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic operations in Lagos, Nigeria. Key Responsibilities- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments of mechanical equipment to minimize downtime.
- Assist in the installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning of industrial assets such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, motors, and gearboxes.
- Diagnose mechanical faults, identify equipment malfunctions, and implement timely corrective actions alongside senior technicians.
- Repair or replace worn or defective mechanical components like bearings, seals, belts, couplings, and gaskets adhering to strict procedures.
- Comply meticulously with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work systems.
- Maintain accurate logs of inspections, repairs, spare parts usage, and equipment downtime within maintenance management systems.
- Participate actively in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall plant productivity.
- Minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Proven hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment.
- Solid understanding of mechanical drawings, pneumatic systems, hydraulics, and rotating equipment troubleshooting.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety regulations and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
