About the Role

International Medical Corps is looking for a dedicated Officer, MHPSS to join our team in Katsina, supporting the implementation of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities across field locations. This role is central to ensuring quality case management, technical oversight, and coordination between field staff, partners, and program leadership in delivering lifesaving mental health services to vulnerable communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support oversight and coordination of MHPSS case management staff, including social workers, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists in the field
  • Assist in recruitment, scheduling, logistics, procurement, and budgeting for MHPSS program activities
  • Follow up on program implementation, collect data, and prepare regular written reports
  • Represent IMC's MHPSS Department in interagency and local coordination meetings
  • Conduct regular visits to supported Primary Health Care Centers to maintain strong partner relationships
  • Coordinate with the MHPSS pharmacist to ensure proper management of psychotropic medications
  • Support monitoring and evaluation efforts, ensuring activities align with project indicators and timelines
  • Assist in developing and implementing training plans and capacity-building initiatives for MHPSS staff and partners
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including attendance sheets, training reports, and pre/post assessments
  • Track client data through outpatient records and submit monthly reports to the MHPSS Manager
  • Provide technical oversight on case management services in line with MHPSS standards of practice
  • Serve as the main mental health focal point for IMC in the designated area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
  • Master's degree in MHPSS, Public Health, Administration, or Project Cycle Management is an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in mental health programs and activities
  • Familiarity with IASC MHPSS guidelines in emergency settings
  • Previous NGO experience with humanitarian/development MHPSS, Health, Protection, or M&E programming
  • Strong organizational and managerial skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Fluency in English and relevant local languages
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills in multicultural, multidisciplinary settings
  • Emotional maturity and adaptability in fast-paced environments
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management
