About the Role
The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria, is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented professional for the position of Shipment Clerk within the Overseas Building Operations (OBO) Office. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the New Consulate Compound (NCC) project by ensuring seamless logistics, customs compliance, and administrative efficiency within a dynamic diplomatic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain official customs clearance for incoming and outgoing shipments supporting the NCC project in Lagos.
- Coordinate closely with the Ministry of Transportation to facilitate official vehicle registration, inspection, and documentation.
- Liaise efficiently with external vendors, trucking companies, local customs officials, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records, manage project follow-ups, and ensure strict adherence to deadlines and established shipping protocols.
- Handle cargo documentation and manage compliance with local vehicle use, insurance, and import-export laws.
- Completion of High School is formally required for this position.
- Minimum of two (2) years of proven professional experience in customs, shipping, or logistics.
- Solid understanding of local cargo regulations, shipping procedures, and vehicle registration laws in Nigeria.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and effective internet research capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to lift heavy items up to 50 pounds and possession of a valid driver's license.
