About the Role
Adexen is partnering with a leading industrial group to recruit a dynamic and results-driven Deputy Head of Transport for their operations in Nigeria. In this critical senior leadership role, you will be responsible for supporting the strategic leadership and operational management of the Group's transport and logistics activities across either Northern or Southern Nigeria. You will oversee regional transport operations to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective movement of raw materials and finished products across multiple sites, driving operational excellence within a large-scale and complex environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Head of Transport in implementing logistics strategies, policies, and standard operating procedures across the assigned region.
- Lead regional inbound and outbound transport operations, ensuring high safety standards and optimal performance.
- Oversee the management, maintenance, and optimization of a large transport fleet operating across multiple locations.
- Drive fleet productivity through effective route planning, vehicle allocation, and turnaround-time improvement.
- Monitor transport KPIs to improve vehicle availability, delivery performance, and overall cost efficiency.
- Develop initiatives to reduce logistics cost per tonne while maintaining exceptional service levels.
- Ensure full compliance with transport regulations, HSE standards, and internal policies.
- Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, transport contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Drive the adoption of telematics, fleet management systems, and digital logistics solutions.
- Lead, coach, and develop regional transport management teams to build a strong succession pipeline.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related discipline; a postgraduate degree is an advantage.
- Professional certifications such as CILT or APICS/ASCM are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in transport, logistics, or supply chain management.
- At least 5 years of experience managing large-scale regional transport operations within manufacturing, cement, mining, or heavy industries.
- Proven expertise in fleet optimization, transport planning, and logistics cost management.
- Strong understanding of transport HSE standards, regulatory compliance, and digital fleet management solutions.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
