About the Role

Medecins Du Monde (MdM) is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Officer to join our team in Zango, Katsina, to support the implementation and monitoring of vital nutrition activities within our Integrated Health and Nutrition program. This role plays a crucial part in delivering essential nutrition services, with a special focus on behavior change communication for adolescents and adolescent mothers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Medical Supervisor in planning, assessing, and implementing nutrition interventions in partnership with State and LGA authorities.
  • Lead community-based nutrition activities, ensuring approaches are sensitive to cultural and gender dynamics.
  • Conduct nutrition training needs assessments and facilitate capacity-building programs for health workers, community mobilizers, and program staff.
  • Ensure timely collection, compilation, and analysis of quality quantitative and qualitative program data in collaboration with the MEAL team.
  • Represent MdM in relevant field-level nutrition forums and maintain strong coordination with local partners.
  • Comply strictly with MdM policies regarding child protection, code of conduct, and health and safety.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Nutrition, Public Health, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • Proven professional experience in implementing nutrition and public health programs, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian setting.
  • Strong understanding of community-based nutrition, infant and young child feeding, and behavior change communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and training facilitation skills with fluency in English and local languages.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency contexts.
