About the Role

Medecins Du Monde is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Nutrition Officer to join our emergency response team in Damboa, Nigeria. In this vital role, you will support the implementation and monitoring of integrated health and nutrition activities at the clinic level, with a special focus on behavior change communication for improved nutrition practices among adolescents and mothers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Medical Supervisor in planning, assessing, and executing nutrition interventions in partnership with State and Local Government Area authorities.
  • Lead community-based nutrition activities and ensure program approaches are sensitive to cultural and gender dynamics.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and build the capacity of health workers, community mobilizers, and program staff.
  • Ensure timely collection, compilation, and analysis of accurate quantitative and qualitative program data in collaboration with the MEAL team.
  • Represent Medecins Du Monde in relevant field-level nutrition forums and working groups.
  • Comply fully with organizational policies regarding child protection, code of conduct, and health and safety.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in implementing nutrition or public health programs, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian context.
  • Strong understanding of community-based nutrition interventions, infant and young child feeding, and behavior change communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cross-cultural facilitation skills.
  • Fluency in English and local languages spoken in Borno State is required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced, emergency relief environment.
