About the Role
International Medical Corps, a leading global humanitarian organization, is seeking a dedicated Nurse, Nutrition to join our health and nutrition team. This role is central to managing acute malnutrition among admitted children by treating medical complications, providing therapeutic feeding, and delivering essential health and nutrition counselling in line with national and international protocols.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the quality of services within the Stabilization Centre (SC) and Outpatient Therapeutic Programme (OTP), while providing technical guidance and capacity building support to staff managing Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive medical examinations, monitor vital signs, and administer treatment according to established protocols.
- Follow current guidelines on drug administration, including antibiotics, antimalarials, and anthelminthics.
- Prepare and administer appropriate therapeutic feeds and medicines for malnourished children in the SC.
- Carry out daily nutritional status monitoring of severely malnourished children as prescribed.
- Provide nutrition counselling and health education to mothers and caretakers.
- Ensure adequate availability and pre-positioning of drugs and nutrition supplies.
- Liaise with the SC Doctor and/or Nutrition Manager on issues affecting smooth SC operations.
- Ensure proper shift handovers and accurate documentation within the SC.
- Maintain and update medical and nutritional records for daily ward rounds.
- Ensure adherence to and documentation of admission, discharge, and transfer criteria to and from the OTP.
- Update patient files to track progress and outcomes.
- Compile statistical data (admissions, defaults, cured cases, absences, deaths) and prepare activity reports.
- Maintain accurate supply consumption records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Registered Nurse with a Degree in Nursing from a recognized nursing institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in CMAM and IYCF programmes.
- Valid and current practicing license.
- Excellent report-writing skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and the required national/local language.
- Strong commitment to and understanding of IMC’s aims, values, and principles.
