About the Role
Discovering Talents Academy (DTA) offers first-class education from Preschool to Primary levels, utilizing a blended curriculum to nurture young minds. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Nigerian History Teacher to inspire primary pupils by bringing our rich national heritage, local cultures, and civic evolution to life. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping culturally aware and critically thinking students who respect diversity and understand their historical roots.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver interactive, age-appropriate history lessons using storytelling, historical imagery, maps, and role-play to engage young learners.
- Plan comprehensive schemes of work and weekly lesson plans strictly aligned with the NERDC Nigerian History guidelines.
- Teach foundational topics including regional cultures, traditional institutions, national symbols, notable heroes, and key historical milestones.
- Design, administer, and grade weekly assessments, projects, and termly examinations while maintaining accurate academic records.
- Foster a disciplined, inclusive, and visually rich classroom environment that promotes unity in diversity and civic responsibility.
- Collaborate with colleagues on cultural events, National Day celebrations, and history-themed exhibitions while maintaining active engagement with parents.
- Possession of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or a Bachelor's Degree in History, Education, or a related field.
- 4 to 7 years of proven teaching experience within a recognized primary educational institution.
- In-depth knowledge of the NERDC Nigerian History curriculum and modern primary pedagogical approaches.
