St. Mary the Virgin Convent, Ufuma is a prestigious Anglican secondary boarding school for girls located in Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria. We are currently seeking a passionate, qualified, and experienced Igbo Language Teacher to join our esteemed academic community and foster cultural appreciation among our students.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Igbo language and literature to secondary school students in accordance with the Nigerian educational curriculum.
- Develop engaging lesson plans that promote fluency, reading, writing, and a deep appreciation of Igbo culture and tradition.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support academic growth.
- Maintain a disciplined, safe, and inclusive learning environment within the classroom and boarding school setting.
- Participate in school co-curricular activities, cultural events, and staff meetings as required by school management.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Igbo Education, Linguistics, or a related field (NCE holders with exceptional experience may also apply).
- Proven teaching experience in a reputable secondary school environment, preferably within a boarding school system.
- Deep knowledge of the Nigerian secondary school curriculum and WAEC/NECO examination standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Strong moral character aligned with the Anglican ethos of the institution.
