About the Role
Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Nigeria's premier higher institution, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Motor Driver Mechanic to join our dynamic transport team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe, reliable, and timely transportation of staff, students, and institutional materials, while also providing essential mechanical maintenance for our fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Drive college vehicles safely and responsibly in accordance with Nigerian traffic laws and institutional policies.
- Perform routine mechanical inspections, diagnosis, and preventive maintenance on cars, buses, and trucks.
- Troubleshoot and repair engine faults, brake systems, transmissions, and electrical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date logbooks for vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, service dates, and destination records.
- Ensure cleanliness, proper servicing, and general upkeep of all assigned institutional vehicles.
- Collaborate with the transport unit supervisor to schedule major repairs and manage vehicle licensing and documentation.
- Must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with four (4) credit-level passes including English Language at one sitting, or five (5) credit-level passes at two sittings.
- Must hold a valid, current professional Nigerian driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Proven professional experience as a motor mechanic and commercial driver, preferably within a structured or educational institution.
- In-depth practical knowledge of vehicle mechanics, troubleshooting techniques, and preventive maintenance.
- Good communication skills, reliability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to road safety.
